We Rent Campaign
Why we’re supporting the We Rent campaign in Bristol (and why it matters for landlords)
What we’re seeing at the moment
Over the past few weeks, there’s been a noticeable shift in the conversations we’re having with landlords.
More questions.
More uncertainty.
More “we think we’re fine, but we’re not completely sure”.
That’s not because anything has gone wrong. It’s because the Renters’ Rights changes are getting closer, and people are starting to realise how much they actually affect day-to-day management.
That’s exactly why conversations like this matter now.
What the We Rent campaign is
The We Rent campaign is a West of England initiative focused on raising awareness of the Renters’ Rights changes across Bristol, Bath, South Gloucestershire and the wider region.
It brings together letting agents, landlords and local stakeholders to make sure the changes are clearly understood — not just at a headline level, but in terms of what they actually mean in practice.
You can find out more about the campaign here.
Why we’re involved
For us, it’s simple.
We’re already having these conversations with landlords every day.
Questions about contracts.
Uncertainty around possession.
How the shift to periodic tenancies affects decision-making.
Being part of the We Rent campaign just allows us to be part of that conversation more widely, not just one landlord at a time, but across the Bristol market.
Why this matters for landlords
This isn’t just a policy change sitting in the background.
It’s something that is actively being talked about across the industry, and it’s already starting to shape how landlords are thinking about their properties.
The landlords who tend to stay in control through changes like this are not the ones reacting at the last minute.
They are the ones who get clear early:
what agreements they have
how their setup actually works
and what they would need to do if something changed
How this links to what we’ve been sharing
If you’ve been following what we’ve been putting out recently, around possession, contracts, and general readiness, this is exactly why.
We’re seeing the same themes come up again and again:
uncertainty around paperwork
reliance on old habits
and a general sense of “it’s probably fine”
Part of the reason we are sharing this is to help landlords get ahead of it.
The Nook view
Our view is that this is manageable.
But it does require a bit more clarity than many landlords have needed in the past.
Not more complexity.
Just less vagueness.
And that’s where conversations like this - and campaigns like We Rent - are useful. They bring everything forward while there is still time to deal with it properly.
Let’s Talk!
If you’re seeing more of this come up and want to sense-check where you stand, we’re always happy to talk it through.
Sometimes a short conversation now is all it takes to avoid a much more complicated situation later.
